The Beginning
Well, let’s see, it all got started like this…
At the time, only one of us was actually playing in a band. Donnie was playing with the band Locked & Loaded, which was way back in late 2018. Joe was in the process of getting back out there after taking a few years off from playing live music, following the loss of a lifelong friend and band member from his previous band. During that time, a hurricane came through & caused a lot of damage in our hometown. While looking for gigs, Joe heard about a benefit concert that Donnie was putting on to raise money for hurricane relief. That was the day Donnie & Joe met. As luck would have it, the band Donnie was playing with was coming to an end. So, Joe & he decided to see if they could put something together. Not long after that, Donnie got a call about a gig & they had three months to get ready for it. They tried a few bass players, but none of them had what they were looking for. Donnie said he knew someone who’d be perfect, someone he used to play with, but he wasn’t sure if they were still playing or not. In walks Ronnie Latham. They played one song together & they all looked at each other; they knew they had something. It turns out that Ronnie & Donnie have known each other their whole lives. Ronnie taught Donnie how to play the drums & they were in the band South Whiskey Road together for several years. So, there was some history there; all Joe had to do was mesh with them. Right away, they got to work putting a show together & from the start, they started working on original songs. About a month before they were supposed to play their first show, they threw a party & played for a couple of hundred friends. After that, it was on & they ended up playing 2 more gigs before their initial “1st gig,” & they’ve been going strong ever since!!!
